LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

July is upon us, the sun is shining and Deptford has some great exhibitions that have just opened, a recent article in Art Licks online and features in a Swedish newspaper.

The Pick of the Month is EYE PAIN by Caspar and Isabel Rock.  The brother and sister duo have drawn a psychedelic world inside BEARSPACE, where prints, etchings and drawings spiral in uncontrollable patterns across the walls.

Caspar Rock has montaged his drawings digitally, creating a maze of strangely drawn monsters, eyes and shapes.  Sometimes this resembles something akin to textile design with repeated detailed motifs, when closely viewed these reveal darker creatures lurking beneath.

A group of artists worked together to secure funding for this project, with an aim to build a gallery space and 37 affordable studio spaces. It worked and now the gallery operates from its character-full site by Deptford Creek.
