LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

July is upon us, the sun is shining and Deptford has some great exhibitions that have just opened, a recent article in Art Licks online and features in a Swedish newspaper.

SE8 have a great exhibition/project entitled ‘The Mulberry Tree Press,’ transforming their space into a publishing house for one month, full of events, performances and projects.  Dale Wilson shows ‘Stretch,’ at ARCH, some very graphic canvases and we look forward to the Tom Richards, Ode to the Appliance at the newly opened The Pigeon Wing in nearby Bermondsey.

With so much going on, its worth taking the Deptford Art Tour, or finding your own way around with the Deptford Art Map, taking in the sights and sounds of the market.

This month, the featured venue is APT Gallery. A stalwart of the Deptford Galleries scene, APT has an intriguing story to tell. APT was set up in 1995, in the Old Harold Works. A group of artists worked together to secure funding for this project, with an aim to build a gallery space and 37 affordable studio spaces. It worked and now the gallery operates from its character-full site by Deptford Creek.
