Police and Thieves will explore the dark side of existence, the experiences and actions that bestow the twists and turns of our human endurance. Work has been selected that presents images that explore the Law and its boundaries, the murky deeds of crime and its wider implications, the undercurrent of sinister events that run through all walks of life and social and personal histories that consider the difficulties that are present in the trials of everyday survival, culture and self expression.

So many things, so little time.. a do-it-yourself art centre, a new gallery, a converted cop shop into 30+ artist/curator/photography etc studios, a full on party space in the cell block (we are hosting the Goldsmiths BA party), and the whole thing is an experimental artist/curator project. We don't have a programme, it IS a programme.
The curation is the architectural infrastructure that we have created for people to drive themselves. We are inviting curator proposals to develop something, we'll see, it's early days. I'd like to see what comes of the space naturally - fashion? Music? Artist Residency (possible)... But what we do have now? is a hot new space in Deptford that people are gagging over to do stuff in - the vibe in Deptford right now is palpable.
It's like this building can become the operational HQ for the culture activity for the area, it's where you'll host a party, we're even developing a radio station with a 24hr looping playlist to support local bands and art works - we started with a podcast by the lovely Georgina Starr.
